About Us
Dr. Ronald A. Hughes Ms.D., D.D., Ph.M. - Clockmaker
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll take some time to look around. I've loved clocks most all of my life and Ron's Collection is a place where I can showcase some of the hand-crafted creations from my studio/workshop. They are available in very limited quantities.
One of my earliest memories is visiting my uncle's summer home in Michigan, where his stately tubular grandfather clock just about blew me over when it sounded out the hour chime. I was fascinated by the swinging of the pendulum and the gentle, soothing, ticking sound as the pendulum lumbered back and forth.
While in high school, I held a part-time job working for a local flower and
antique shop. Two experiences working there, set the direction my life would
take. I bought my first antique Ingraham beehive mantel clock, and I met and
began to apprentice clock-making with Mr. Art Schlamann. That was over 35 years
ago...
Today, I own and operate ClockMD in Howard City, Michigan. My loving, talented and beautiful wife (and best friend) Mary, helps me in the shop as well as runs her own art studio. Her newly revamped Internet web site is: Mary Hughes Studio. Mary's original artwork is stunning! Please be sure to take a look. Together, we have three children, two grandchildren, and a house full of "pet-children".
In addition to my love of clocks, I'm passionate about metaphysical studies
and have been recently ordained as a Minister of the Church of Divine
Metaphysics. My educational degrees include Doctor of Metaphysics, Doctor
of Divinity, Philosopher of Metaphysics, and I'm a Certified Practitioner of
Metaphysics. Currently, I'm conducting historical research into the life
of the 19th century clockmaker turned Spiritual Healer, Phineas Parkhurst Quimby
(1802-1866). With the help of many authors, historians and scholars, we
have assembled the world's largest informational web site dedicated to Dr.
Quimby. The web site can be found at:
Phineas Parkhurst Quimby Resource Center.
